Local governments in the Netherlands are taking a major step forward in enhancing their cyber resilience. In an era of increasing digital threats, municipalities require a strong defense to guarantee the continuity of their services. To address this, the Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG) issued a large-scale tender. The consortium consisting of Topicus Security (KeyHub), Previder, and Visolity has been awarded the contract for ‘Lot 3: Cyber Resilience Prevention.’
Local governments and municipalities are striving for more than just compliance with new legislation, such as NIS2 and the Cybersecurity Act (Cbw). For them, information security forms the very foundation of trust between the government and its citizens.
By structurally increasing cyber resilience, it is ensured that the data of millions of Dutch citizens—ranging from healthcare data to passport details—is securely managed under strict Dutch jurisdiction. With this proactive approach, local governments are consciously choosing a secure and local alternative, ensuring that control over vital government data remains entirely in their own hands.
By implementing essential baseline measures, incidents are prevented and risks are mitigated. Governments maintain full control over their critical data, with the choice between on-premise facilities or reliable Dutch hosting.
The collaboration offers the following guarantees:
Secure access: Utilizing a central Identity & Access Management platform for access control and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), the partners act as 'gatekeepers' for sensitive data.
